Conventional fairy tales like Cinderella and Snow White end with dazzlingly beautiful girls marrying princes, and others, such as Jack and the Beanstalk, reward boys for bravery and brashness with wealth and power. Folklorists Sara Cleto and Brittany Warman uncover some surprisingly unconventional old fairy tales and discuss how modern writers' LGBTQ+ twists on tradition can be wonderfully disruptive to our expectations of stories that being with "Once upon a time."
