BLACK HISTORY MONTH DISCUSSION
Past, Present and Future with NOW President Christian Nunes
Montgomery County, Maryland February NOW meeting

Zoom  |  Wednesday, February 15 |  7 - 8 pm

We will look at the:

  • past—Black women who helped build the NOW organization; any problems encountered with inclusion over the years; major accomplishments;

  • present—how NOW is increasing diversity of members and issues; how the organization has changed with a young woman of color leading it;

  • future—some whys young women and women of color should join the organization at this time.

We hope to hear Christian's personal story of what it was like growing up a Black feminist and how her activism has driven her career choices.

Christian F. Nunes, MBA, MS, LCSW,  became president of the National Organization for Women in August 2020. She was previously appointed Vice President by the board in May 2019. As the second African American president in the organization’s history, the youngest person of color, and the youngest president in more than 40 years, Nunes is leading the organization through an intersectional lens, bringing a diverse coalition of grassroots activists to work against structural sexism and racism.  More about Christian
